D200 Website Photography
Stylized Photography and Candids

District 200 schools are full of collaboration, new programs, evolving spaces, and students doing meaningful work every day.
There’s a great opportunity to showcase that energy through intentional photography designed specifically for the district’s digital presence.
We propose creating a set of stylized banner images for each school that are planned, well-lit photographs that highlight key spaces, programs, and areas of focus. These images would be composed specifically for website banners so each school has strong visuals that represent its identity.
Alongside this, we would capture candid moments throughout the school day to build a fresh content library of students learning, collaborating, and participating in activities. These images can be used across social media, announcements, emails, and other areas of the website.
Together, this creates a cohesive visual system that helps District 200 consistently showcase the people, programs, and experiences that make each school unique.

Stylized versus Candid

The Process at a Glance
1. Discovery & Alignment
We begin with a short planning meeting to understand what each school would like to highlight. This could include key programs, spaces, student activities, or areas of focus that best represent the school.

2. Creative Planning
Based on those priorities, we develop a set of visual concepts and simple sketches to guide the banner photography. These concepts ensure each image is intentional and tailored to the school’s identity.
3. Location Scout
We visit the school to evaluate the spaces where photos will take place. We visit the school to evaluate the spaces where photos will take place. During this scout we confirm angles, lighting, and staging opportunities while refining the original concepts to best fit the environment. Scouting and planning ahead of time helps ensure the shoot day runs efficiently, allowing us to move quickly between locations and maximize time capturing additional candid moments throughout the school.

4. Shoot Day
During the shoot, we capture both the planned banner images and candid photography of the school day. A photographer, lighting assistant, and intern assistant will be present to manage lighting setups, equipment, and any photography-related needs throughout the day. After completing a stylized banner setup in one location, we use that time to photograph candid moments happening nearby before moving the setup to the next space. This approach allows us to work efficiently while capturing both the planned hero imagery and authentic moments from the school day.
